Ahlmac 3-in-1 Leveller
at Dries van den Dragt Bestratingen
Dries van den Dragt Bestratingen of Doornspijk recently took delivery of a new Ahlmac 2250-NG Leveller. The machine was immediately put to work on the construction of a new access road on Oudebosweg in Dronten. During its first use, the various capabilities of the leveller were immediately explored. On the project, the receivers, angle sensor, noise sensor, and dual-slope laser were used, among other features, to gain experience with the available control methods.
The work began with leveling a bed of rubble, followed by applying a top layer of white sand in preparation for laying concrete slabs. This immediately highlighted one of the Ahlmac Leveller’s strengths: the 3-in-1 principle, which combines shoveling, pushing, and pulling in a single machine. This allows material to be moved and distributed immediately during the leveling process, without the need for additional equipment.
Precise profiling under various conditions
To demonstrate how the various control methods work, a gently sloping profile was intentionally created over a distance of several meters. This clearly demonstrated how the grading blade automatically responds to height differences using the sound sensor, follows the desired profile, and can be combined with one additional sound sensor, one receiver, or the angle sensor.
The Ahlmac Leveller operates on the free-suspension principle, whereby the blade moves independently of the machine. In combination with the sliding and compaction plate, this ensures a precise finish and compaction of the work surface. The swivel ring design also allows for manual adjustment of the angle across the width of the leveller.
Comprehensive solution for pavement construction
Once the gravel base and white sand had been brought to the correct level and compacted, the Stelcon slabs could be laid using a vacuum unit.
With the introduction of the Ahlmac 2250-NG, Dries van den Dragt Bestratingen now has a versatile machine for preparing a wide range of paving projects. From property paths and driveways to parking lots, industrial sites, and roadways: the leveler makes it possible to precisely grade the subgrade and prepare it immediately for further finishing.
