Ton Verdam, from a family of Ahlmann machinists, specializes in leveling work with the Ahlmann 3-in-1 leveller. This multi-purpose machine can level both forward and backward and is completely controllable from the cab. Scooping, pushing and pulling are combined in one machine, ensuring efficient completion of the subgrade, including the addition or removal of sand.

The leveller works according to the “free-hanging” and “cheese scraper” principle. Here, the sliding/compaction plate provides support and compaction of the subsoil, even on hard tracks. The high dead weight of the machine means that the blade forcefully penetrates the subsoil, while the hydraulically operated scoop bucket continuously supplies sufficient material. Thanks to the slewing ring, the blade remains stable at breaking points and uneven surfaces, improving accuracy.

An important feature of the Ahlmann AS1600 swing loader is its four-wheel steering, which allows it to work in the so-called "dog walk. This allows the machine to make four tracks in the same travel movement, resulting in better and more even compaction of the ground. The rigid chassis also provides a higher front axle pressure during shearing, which improves control and leveling results.

The leveller's swivel action is independent of steering, making it easy to accurately follow the tire line and finish sides.

In addition to the leveller, Ton also uses a vacuum set for stelcon plates, a ripper board for loosening soil and a ripper tooth for heavier unloading work. This combination of machine and tools allows him to perform various leveling jobs skillfully and efficiently.
