Compact and versatile on the track
The 8 MCR is the basis for the 106 MRail, which is designed to do versatile work in tight spaces. The placement of the unique Mecalac boom next to the cab, provides unprecedented lifting power. With its own weight of 9.4 tons, a load of 2.8 tons can be moved short of the machine. Both track and track wheel motors are driven separately through a closed hydrostatic travel circuit. This allows drive, boom and slew functions to be loaded simultaneously without sacrificing power and speed on the track and track wheels. The travel speed on tracks of the 106 MRail is 10 mph (23 mph on rails) allowing for rapid movement.

With the first boom section acting as a counterweight, and the powerful output stroke of the dipper cylinder, a load of 2.8 tons can be moved alongside and around the machine.
Powerful separate travel motors move the machine on the track at speeds of up to 23 km/h.
