Three Mecalac 8MCRs are now in use at Loonbedrijf Veens in Herveld. The tracked machines are widely used within the company, which is active in such areas as green space maintenance, tree nursery, paving and agricultural earth moving. Thanks to their compact construction, power and speed, the machines are suitable for a wide variety of jobs.
The Mecalac machines operate at Veens at various locations and in a variety of sectors. Within the green work they are used, among other things, for flail mowing, hedge trimming, basket cleaning, tree felling, stump grinding and forest clearing. In addition, the machines are regularly found in tree nurseries for digging paths and building container fields. They also find their application in street and earthwork, for example in the excavation of gardens or the construction of silage plates for farmers.
Technical capabilities
The 8MCR combines compact construction with high lifting capacity. The tracked machine is suitable for heavy jobs such as moving concrete slabs and working in forest conditions. Thanks to a powerful hydraulic pump (120 liters), even heavier implements, such as a forest tiller or flail mower, can be driven without problems. Because hydraulics and travel gear are controlled separately, several functions can be used simultaneously, such as driving and flail mowing.
With a travel speed of up to 10 km/h, the machine is also quick to move, which makes working in larger plots or scattered locations efficient. One of the machines is equipped with wide tracks, suitable for wetter terrain. The machines can also be equipped with various attachments and are equipped with a towing hook, making it possible to carry a tipper truck or a tree trolley, for example.
Applications and deployment
The machines are used intensively and run between 2,200 and 3,000 hours annually. One of the three Mecalacs is equipped with a Herder boom set and can therefore be used on other types of jobs, without having to convert the boom as before. The other machines rotate between the various jobs.
