Electrically powered cutting basket
A special moment for both Ahlmann Netherlands and Loon- en aannemersbedrijf Gebr. van der Poel from Oud Ade: the very first Mecalac E12 GreenJob with electrically driven mower basket has been delivered and is now in use.
The cutting basket - a 4.3-meter-wide Herder - is directly electrically driven by a 48-volt electric motor. Power consumption for driving and basketry is more than halved by this direct electro drive (without the use of a hydraulic transmission).
An additional advantage is the significant noise reduction due to the elimination of the hydraulic drive.
That the E12 has no trouble filling its working day is already well known with a consumption of only 15 KW per hour. Only with the hiving season, the days get longer. In combination with constant full arm movement, pulling up and moving small pieces, we opted for an additional, modular battery pack behind the cab. This way, we maintain deployment time and do not have to reduce the existing 700-volt current to go through the water with the desired 48 volts.
With the commissioning of this first Mecalac E12 GreenJob, Gebr. van der Poel takes a prestigious step for sustainable maintenance of watercourses and additional work in nature reserves. A milestone that we are proud to celebrate together with them.
