Optimal efficiency concept

Our electric earthmoving machines have been completely redesigned. We did not convert existing technology, which means no compromises. What makes these machines unique is that, apart from their distinctive color and decals, they are visually indistinguishable from the fuel-powered versions. For the operator, nothing changes in terms of visibility or machine functionality.

Mobile machines are constantly on the move, which requires a significant amount of energy. In our E-machines, the traditional hydrostatic drive has been replaced by a single fully electric drive motor mounted directly to the gearbox. As a result, almost no energy is lost in transmission and every kWh is used optimally.

A factory-built solution, ready for the future.

Why choose our electric excavators?

Municipalities and clients are increasingly demanding emission-free operations. That is why more and more contractors working on public projects are switching to an electric excavator, electric wheeled excavator, or electric swing loader. Emission regulations are becoming stricter every year.

According to the Clean and Emission-Free Construction roadmap, from 2030 onwards, public projects will no longer be tendered for diesel machines under 56 kW. By investing in an electric machine now, you are already prepared for the future.

In addition to reducing emissions, working with an electric construction machine is comfortable and safe. The operator can respond more alertly to surrounding sounds and communicate clearly with ground workers during the job.

In practice

New design of electric earthmoving machines

Mecalac has been leading the way in innovation for many years. Since 2016, the manufacturer has invested in the development of a fully electric drivetrain for mobile excavators. This is no simple task, as mobile machines are constantly on the move and require a significant amount of energy.

In the Mecalac E-machines, the traditional hydrostatic drive has been replaced by a single fully electric drive motor mounted directly to the gearbox. As a result, almost no energy is lost in transmission and every kWh is used optimally. The result: a factory-built electric solution, ready for the future.

Mecalac’s electric earthmoving machines have been completely newly developed and designed. They are not simply converted versions of existing machines, meaning no compromises have been made in performance or design. From the outside, the E-series looks almost identical to the diesel variants, with only the color and decals revealing the difference. For the operator, nothing changes in terms of visibility, safety, or operation. In terms of performance and driving experience, an electric Ahlmann or Mecalac fully matches the diesel version. Thanks to the powerful electric motors, there is always more than enough torque available for demanding work.

Complete your machine with our attachments

With our attachments, you get the most out of your machine. For every job, we offer the right attachment. We keep a large stock of both new and used attachments. And if you need a custom solution, we’re happy to advise you.

Range of electric construction machines

The range of the electric Mecalac and Ahlmann models is designed to cover a full working day. In practice, this means you can work up to 8 hours on a full battery charge, depending on the intensity of the work and the use of hydraulic functions.

For lighter tasks, the battery often lasts even longer. During continuous heavy-duty work or when traveling longer distances, intermediate charging with a battery generator can be a smart solution.

Thanks to the factory-integrated battery solution from Mecalac/Ahlmann, you can rely on consistent performance and predictable operating time. That way, you know exactly what to expect during your working day.

Subsidies and schemes for electric excavator

Investing in an electric excavator becomes much more attractive thanks to various subsidies and tax incentive schemes. These can significantly reduce the purchase cost and make the transition to emission-free operation financially more feasible.

Since the amount and availability of subsidies and schemes may vary each year, it’s wise to check the current conditions in advance. Our sales team will be happy to inform you about the latest options. The main schemes are:

  • SSEB Purchase (Clean and Emission-Free Construction Subsidy Scheme):
For the purchase of an emission-free construction machine. In 2025, SMEs can receive a 19% subsidy on the additional cost compared to the diesel variant.
  • MIA Scheme (Environmental Investment Allowance):
Provides tax benefits when investing in sustainable business assets. In 2025, under code E 3413, this results in a gross tax benefit of 27% (net 9%) of the purchase value of an emission-free construction machine.
