Ahlmann AS7 in road construction
In the early 1970s, brothers Toon, Ad and Frans van den Oord had a road construction company in Ammerzoden. Due to expansion, they were looking for machine support. With thoughts of purchasing a crane, they traveled together to the Hannover Messe in 1971. What they found there was not what they were looking for, but it was exactly what they needed: the Ahlmann AS7 Swing Loader.
Compact, powerful and versatile.
After three years of intensive use, two gentlemen from the German factory visited Ammerzoden. Whether the brothers might know a good party for the importership of the Ahlmann machines in the Netherlands. Toon did not hesitate for a moment; he already had the answer ready. And so the beginning of Ahlmann Netherlands became a fact.
Tone of the Ahlmann with white cap that guaranteed entertainment, driving machines and good food and drink at fairs and open houses at the company's own premises, ensured that the Ahlmann swing loader quickly became a household name within the contracting and agricultural sector - both in the Netherlands and Belgium.
The transition to the new millennium brought change: Toon officially retired, after which his son Arjan took over the helm. A year later, in 2001, we expanded our product range to include Mecalac after taking over the importership of the French multi-purpose earthmoving machines.
In the following years, Ahlmann Netherlands entered a period of technical expansion and innovation. The 3-in-1 leveller was developed in-house and later the GreenJob roadside/ ditch mowers. A true addition to the assortment that opened the doors to new target groups in the Netherlands, Belgium and far beyond.
In addition to its own developments, Mecalac also greatly expanded its product range with the introduction of the versatile MCR crawler excavators, MWR mobile excavators and various electric models. Later Mecalac also added mini loaders, dumpers and rail road machines to the program.
Thus, today we are a supplier of a specialist and wide range of versatile machines.
Together with the third generation - Bart, Marelke and Jonieke - we are now on the eve of a new era in which environmental awareness and new technologies take center stage. With the focus on innovation, creativity and further professionalization within the organization, one thing is certain: Ahlmann Netherlands is ready for the next 50 years.
